Just when you think you have a handle on how it works, it changes.\u00a0 Just when you think your website is perfect, it needs an update.\u00a0 Or something is no longer compatible.\u00a0 Or JavaScript rolls out an update and suddenly things look wonky on your site.<\/p>\n<p>Trying to predict the frequent shifts in what Google considers \u201cbest practices\u201d is like trying to predict the stock market.\u00a0 Grasping all the different platforms, functions, strategies and rankings is like hanging on to a wiggly 2-year old.\u00a0 No matter how hard you try to keep your arms around it, eventually it gets away from you.<\/p>\n<p>One thing I&#8217;ve learned is that the internet is really good at making you a liar.\u00a0 What you know to be true today will certainly change over time.\u00a0 What is industry-standard now, is outdated in 3 years.\u00a0 I taught things about the internet 6 years ago that are patently false today.\u00a0 I\u2019m not happy about that.\u00a0 That\u2019s why I\u2019m constantly reading, studying, and asking questions of my expert staff.\u00a0 (Hint: hire people who are smarter than you, and learn from them.)<\/p>\n<p>As an HVAC business owner, it\u2019s important that you stay informed and current, and it\u2019s also vital to align yourself with an internet supplier you can trust.\u00a0 Because you should be running your company, not learning how to code.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>HVAC internet suppliers are everywhere!\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>It seems that internet suppliers have \u201cdiscovered \u201cHVAC in recent years, and a new one crops up practically every month. \u00a0Many claim to have years of HVAC experience\u2013which can\u2019t possibly be true. \u00a0Case in point: I met with a competitor who approached me about merging our companies.\u00a0 The owner told me he had been in business almost 4 years and admitted didn\u2019t know much about HVAC.\u00a0 That\u2019s why he wanted to merge our companies.\u00a0 But his website said they had 20+ years HVAC experience! (They had clearly added up the 1 to 2 years their dozen employees had, and came up with 20 years.)<\/p>\n<h1><strong>HVAC is a special snowflake<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>HVAC can\u2019t be marketed like other service industries.\u00a0 So make sure you ask questions before you sign on with an internet marketing supplier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s a list to get you started.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is your experience with HVAC? (No, your <em>ACTUAL<\/em> experience.\u00a0 Not the combined number of years that your employees have worked there!)<\/li>\n<li>How many HVAC contractors do you have as clients?<\/li>\n<li>When should I expect to see results?<\/li>\n<li>What is a reasonable ROI for my campaign?<\/li>\n<li>How will I receive tracked results?\u00a0 How often?<\/li>\n<li>Do you intend to remove the Google Analytics from my website?\u00a0 If so, why?<\/li>\n<li>What is the breakdown of my internet budget?
